I am a credentialed chemistry teacher working as a chemistry teacher. I believe literacy across content areas is the key to success for any student. As a scientist and chemistry teacher, my goal is to help students understand how important science is in their everyday lives and how science literacy empowers them to become more capable twenty-first century citizens.

...Since I was in college, I had dreams of becoming a university professor. The subject that most intrigued me was organic chemistry. When I tell that to other people, their response is usually, "But its SO HARD!" At which point I exclaim, "Not if you really understand whats going on!"
As humans, we are prone to treat learning a new subject, such as organic chemistry, as a memorization game.

Especially in science and math, taking the right approach is far more important than the solution for any one problem. I graduated from UCLA with a degree in psychobiology, and have been tutoring chemistry, biology, and math students from high school to college level.
