I have spent the last two years working at a junior high school in Tijuana, Mexico. I am a WA State certified teacher with endorsements in ESL and Elementary Education. I am mainly looking to tutor ESL students but I will also tutor for math, reading, writing, science and history.

My successes in school and my years of work experiences prepared me to excel as a tutor. In high school, two out of three years, I ranked in the top three on the national math test. While in college I did extremely well in subjects in which attention to detail was critical.

...I tutor vocabulary for standardized tests using roots, word groups, and sentence context. For non-native English speakers, I make sure that the vocabulary I teach is at the appropriate level and that I also teach how to use the words idiomatically. For younger children, I make sure to give age-appropriate context and to reinforce the words often.

...I have students aging from 5 years old to professionals who want to live and work in Japan. Whether it be needing help with homework, preparing for exams, brushing up on conversation for an upcoming visit, I will cater to all levels, objectives and ages and prepare each lesson accordingly. My method is to build, repeat, and apply with each lesson.

I help my younger students develop confidence in their English skills so they can make friends in the new culture more quickly. I help my adult clients increase awareness of community resources available to them so they have access to more support in their new country.
