...The intention of placing a student in Prealgebra is to strengthen computational skills and the basic mechanics of solving/simplifying before taking a more rigorous Algebra 1 course. Since these are generally middle school aged students I am more likely to use manipulatives and game based activities to strengthen number fluency. This is also a good level to teach some basic math study skills.
