...During my undergraduate junior and senior years, I was a designated tutor for my chemistry department in organic chemistry. The students who came in regularly and from the beginning saw the greatest gain. Learning organic chemistry, at large, requires a build up from the physicochemical properties of molecules and functional groups, to reactions and mechanisms, to synthesis.

...I currently offer tutoring services in Algebra 1and2, Trig, Geometry, ACT math, Physics, Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry. I graduated on Dec 2011 with Biology major and Chemistry minor. I have taken math courses up to Calculus II along with sufficient physics courses.

...Why, you ask? The sad fact is that organic chemistry textbooks have started to teach down to students. I understand that organic chemistry may seem a bit complicated at first, because if you try to just memorize facts you may be able to squeak by only if you have a photographic memory.

...They can apply this knowledge so that they can see future applications. I find that this method helps them visualize future skill sets where they would find joy doing a certain job. I have also taught in a huge classroom setting and I find that it is a necessary skill to learn in a large group format so that you do not get lost in the crowd.

...I've taken 2 years of chemistry, both inorganic and organic. My organic chemistry course was taught by an instructor that is well known for his skill in the subject, students attending other universities often choose to come to Cabrillo to take the course. I love chemistry almost as much as I do biology and as my students could tell you I'm very passionate about the topic.
