...I am truly aware of difficulties students may have with comprehension due to learning disabilities and handicaps, because I had to deal with some of these same issues. You see, I suffered a severe hearing loss at the age of five because of a childhood disease, that affected my auditory nerve. My hearing loss went undetected until I was in third grade at eight years of age.
