...For chemistry, I like to work with students to really understand why they are doing what they are doing and make a toolbox of concepts that are important to understanding all of the material. Trigonometry is my absolute favorite math. It seems so complicated a first, but if you build a toolbox of techniques it becomes a fun subject.

...Most difficulties in learning are due to a lack of proper preparation or poor explanations. What prompted my friends to comment on my teaching skills is that I have an ability to explain complex topics in terms the student can understand. I read technical and scientific news and articles because of the enthusiasm I have in understanding as much about the universe as possible.

...Mostly, I have tutored math, science and history classes. I studied Systems Engineering at the University of Pennsylvania in the mid 1980s, graduating in 1988. Systems Engineering is a general engineering discipline which combines the concepts of electrical engineering, mechanical engineering and computer science.
