...My goal in our tutoring sessions will be to help you understand and engage with the material you're learning now by helping you critically connect that material to your life in the larger world. My academic background was in English, journalism and creative writing in high school. As a college undergraduate, I focused on film and television first, but ended up with a major in Theology.

...I was a shy kid growing up and public speaking was a torturous task for me; I stuttered a lot or wouldn't even speak up at all. In my second year of middle school, I participated in the Junior Statesmen of America program, whose basis was a mock government program. It emphasized debate, of which public speaking is key.

...I can analyze those your problems. I love students of all abilities and believe that all subjects including spiritual growth are included in holistic learning.I teach reading; that means the three things: phonics, meaning, and the last is magic. If you're not enjoying it, seeing the movie so to speak, you aren't really reading.

...Because my major and now license has been directed towards teaching I have growing and great experience in writing lesson plans. I recently helped students prepare for the CAHSEE exam; it was an interesting and rewarding experience, but I realized that I and students could gain more from one-on-one directed study. I believe that learning should be a fun, holistic experience.
