For many years, I was a professor of Classics (Latin, Ancient Greek, ancient literature in translation, ancient history) at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa. My PhD is from Columbia University. I am now retired, but eager to share my knowledge, experience and enthusiasm for these subjects.

...I have found over the years that inadequate writing skills are often just as much an obstacle to academic success as poor reading skills. I have also always included study and organizational skills, since my goal is for my students to become independent learners. For the past five years, I have been using of interactive computer programs that give practice in the skills I teach.
