...I like to give a lot of examples and also have the student try out a lot of examples themselves. I don't like to give up, and I don't give up on any of my students. I find that encouragement, supportive commentary, and praise are all essential and useful in the learning process, as it helps maintain the student's self esteem and also keeps them motivated and interested in the subjects.

...In each of those jobs I was responsible for training employees. Beyond those experiences I taught H & R Block's Tax Preparation class for several years, a sixteen week, 6 hours per week, class where new tax preparers learn the fundamentals of tax preparation. As a volunteer I taught and administered an extensive class in PC computing at the Salvation Army in northwest Indiana.

For my history major, I mostly studied European History, but also took many classes in U.S. and Ancient History. ...The Math section of the ACT can be difficult for many reasons. I help students by making sure that they get questions that they have "earned" through years of study in high school. I also can teach them things they don't know with just enough detail to allow them to apply the material on the exam, and I can re-teach them material they may have forgotten.
