...My favorite subjects have always been history, government, geography, and English, both literature and composition. I have also taught beginning and intermediate Mandarin Chinese, as well as piano and harp for adults for several years. I spent four years as a GED tutor teaching people from different backgrounds and cultures, and feel that I am a very patient instructor.

...My goal in tutoring is to enable a way of thinking and understanding so that, when faced with a similar situation in the future, the student will be able to tackle the issue on their own. Sometimes this isn't as quick a remedy as solving the problem for the student. I feel, however, that this approach will better serve the student in the long run.

I Graduated from the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana with a 3.42 GPA in nuclear engineering. While still in college I had the opportunity to tutor quite a few people in Chemistry, Physics, Math, and Engineering Classes. While these subjects are my main strengths I am also available in other subjects such as History, English, and Biology.

...Although most students have been taught grammar and usage at some point, I help students understand and internalize the conventions of written English and rhetorical style. As a tutor, I also teach each of my students the structure and content of the ACT English. This information helps students to understand and predict what the test will ask of them and eases test anxiety.
