I typically approach the art of tutoring Socratically; that is, by asking questions fashioned to elicit original thoughts from the student. However, in my experience, I sometimes find it necessary to explain principles and/or themes before getting down to the details.

...I taught World Geography at Pasadena High School. I have been keenly interested in geography since childhood; friends and relatives know that geography is my specialty in Trivial Pursuit. At various times, have taught high school English, SAT Verbal test preparation, and Latin, as well as sponsoring high school newspapers and literary magazines.

...To go into a little more detail, the first part of the class consisted of solving systems of linear equations. Systems were solved first using Gaussian elimination. Next, the course concentrated on the concept of vector spaces and subspaces, and how to prove whether or not a set of numbers was considered a vector space or subspace.

...I'm a prolific Googler, too, so if I don't have knowledge about something, I know exactly what to search for to get what I want quickly and efficiently. I have been powerlifting for about a year, and have helped a few friends to get into the sport. I plan to continue during the summer, and will join the Powerlifting club at Georgia Tech in the fall.
