...I was often the go-to girl for helping my friends understand math concepts they were struggling with. I was able to figure out how to explain the concepts or problems in a way that made sense to them. Later, I used those same skills in a math tutoring program I helped set up at my high school through our school's chapter of the National Honor Society.

I began learning the fundamental principles of genetics as a high school senior by taking a biological anthropology class as part of an early college program.

...Since I am passionate about swimming, I also do it for fun at the gym, always working on my form and getting in shape. My various swimming courses have included water safety lessons and to complete everything, I am CPR certified. My family on my mom's side is from Russia, so learning Russian is very intuitive to me.
