While it is absolutely necessary to be able to do math and science without relying on technology, I have found that modern graphing calculators and Internet learning resources are excellent tools.

...My interest in tutoring dates back to my years in middle and high school where I excelled in physics and math. I have always been helpful to classmates who were behind in math or physics, so this was where my experience began. ...The ME 200B syllabus at Stanford included the three main methods of solving problems that could be cast as (Partial) Differential Equations - Self-similar methods, Separation of Variables, Method of Characteristics. The basis for solving PDE's is of course knowing how to deal efficiently with O(rdinary) Differential Equations. I hold a B.
