...Students lose interest in the subject primarily because of a poor understanding of stoichiometry. Once they understand the concepts of a mole and of molarity, most of them are comfortable with solving comprehensive questions in more advanced topics. In order to help students, I teach a fairly simple approach to Lewis dot structures, and utilize model kits to simulate molecular geometry.

...Learning organic chemistry, at large, requires a build up from the physicochemical properties of molecules and functional groups, to reactions and mechanisms, to synthesis. Thus, the better the understanding of the prior steps, the better the understanding of the following steps. About half of my time was spent in helping students with their lab reports.

As an Electrical Engineer, I've always been attracted to the subjects of Mathematics and Science. I've previously had some experience tutoring when I was in school myself, as well as helping my daughter when she was taking AP Math and AP Science classes in High School. I enjoy teaching and have been involved with instructing my colleagues while I worked in industry.
