...I am in my last year of study to obtain my master's degree in fine art drawing and painting from The Academy of Art University. My goal is to tutor all subjects for students from pre-k to eighth grade. I can also teach fine art painting and drawing classes for all ages.

I am an undergraduate student seeking a dual certification in Early Childhood to 6th grade generalist, and 4th-8th grade Math. I have a strong background in educational methods, and work with each student to find a method that works for him or her. While I can tutor most subjects at the elementary and middle school level, my strength is in math instruction.

Solving the problems is just half of the objective of a tutoring session. The most important thing is learning how to come from the basic principles (from lectures and notes) to the solution of each problem. I love math and love helping students with math! I have taught math at the middle school,high school, and university level for a total of 14 years experience. I have a B.S. degree in mathematics from Texas A&M; a M.A. in mathematics from the University of Wisconsin, and am currently working on my PhD in mathematics at the University of Texas-Arlington.

...Teaching Philosophy:
In high school, students are often taught ‘how’ to attack a problem (memorization), but rarely do teachers shed light on the ‘why’ students are doing what they are doing. I believe that if students understand the ‘why,’ good grades and great test scores will follow suit. All students can learn math ‘tricks,’ but those who understand the ‘why’ can invent them.
