...I first learned the subject as an undergraduate engineer at Penn State. During graduate school as a teaching assistant at MIT, I taught seniors to apply linear algebra to biotechnology using a stoichiometric matrix to estimate metabolite concentrations during bacterial fermentation. As an editor, I helped proofread the solution manual to Poole's linear algebra textbook.

...I have spent the last few years helping old students of mine with their geometry homework at FSU. As part of my college algebra classes, I regularly have to remind my non-traditional students about prealgebra facts which they have forgotten in the years since they were in school. I have extensive practice explaining these topics to math-anxious students.

...Once my students begin to understand the material, positive results usually follow. I have taught a course involving statistics and concentrated in several stats courses at the PhD level. Statistics offers many new concepts which, depending how it's taught, can be overwhelming at times.
