...I read a 1000 page biology book a few years ago, cover to cover, since so much has been learned since my studies. I continue to read in science and biology, try to stay current with advances in research. I have some background in chemistry and physics as well, so I don't just regurgitate factoids; I understand why things work as they do, to the extent any of us comprehend living systems.

A strong liberal arts education and a long career in statistical modeling have left me filled with facts and skills that I am motivated to pass on. Most important of these is a strong intuition for rooting out problems in analyses and finding alternative ways to make things work. I believe these are both teachable skills.

...My goal is to reach each of my students according to their individual learning style, allowing each to have fun with the instruction materials. I live in Marin and have 4 kids of my own aged 15 to 23.I love algebra and all its applications! There are many games to make learning algebra fun!

...I do such review on an as-needed basis. An essential part of that review is supervised practice of techniques. It is critical, before going into pre-algebra, that students have a firm command of arithmetic.
