...I graduated from the University of California, San Diego, where I majored in quantitative economics, and political science. I also wrote a dissertation, which was about 100 pages in math/economics/political science to graduate with highest honors (both majors), in 3 years. I have been a tutor to numerous students over several years, ranging from middle school to graduate students.

...The intention of placing a student in Prealgebra is to strengthen computational skills and the basic mechanics of solving/simplifying before taking a more rigorous Algebra 1 course. Since these are generally middle school aged students I am more likely to use manipulatives and game based activities to strengthen number fluency. This is also a good level to teach some basic math study skills.
