I am finding more and more as I get older that critical thinking is rarely taught and greatly needed. ...Often they just need a chance to express what they know. I also think that appreciation and encouragement are important tools for learning. I think we like to do things where we can recognize our natural intelligence and this means paying attention to what we do know as well as going into areas where we are a little unfamiliar.
