...The Texas TEKs (Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills), requirements that teachers must go by in the instruction of their students, says that a student must have mastery and an “instantaneous recall” of multiplication facts by the end of 5th grade! Why is it so important to know these facts? After all, I can just crunch it on a calculator, right?
