...I find that taking a complicated idea and presenting it in the simplest terms makes more sense than repeating the incomprehensible explanation given in some of the textbooks I've seen. If I can simplify a concept using apples, oranges, and the occasional pizza, I do it. These are tangible items that students can relate to.
