...I think teaching one-on-one is very effective, and I don't give up until the student can do it one their own. I know that it is sometimes difficult to get excited about a particular math concept, especially when you don't think you will need it down the road. Chances are that you won't.

...By first observing how the student sees the problem, the solution can then be explained in a way that is more natural to them. When solving a problem, if the student is initially stuck I give a hint to the first step necessary to solve the problem. I never give the solution outright but instead opt to question the student about the problem at hand.
