...I recommend using Eclipse or NetBeans as an IDE as it helps to catch syntactical errors early on. Visual Basic - I predominately work with Visual Basic for Applications, primarily in Excel but also in Access, Word and Outlook. I also have experiencing working with Visual Studio.
