...In this DiffEq class, I learned about how to solve first-order differential equations that describe systems such as population growth and the harmonic oscillator. These differential equations even involve imaginary numbers and eigenvalues and eigenvectors. I came to appreciate those after I took this class and I enjoyed it!

...I love teaching algebra in particular because a solid foundation in this subject is useful throughout life. I've completed coursework in college-level biology, microbiology, anatomy and physiology with a 4.0 gpa. I love the subject because it's a fascinating story about a beautiful and complex system.

...I've led wilderness hikes with groups of 10 to 15 children. On these hikes they collect small samples of plants and fungi for showing and discussing with the group. I've instructed elementary-aged students on the use of microscopes and how to prepare samples for study, as well as how to make objective observations and comparisons with other samples.
