...It is up to me to find a way of presentation that works with the student's background. I use the Socratic method a lot, asking the student questions and building on the response. I did some Skin diving from 1966 to 1975, and back packing from 1969 to 1975, mostly in the Olympics.

I lead students to answers to their questions using skillfully chosen questions about what the student already knows.

...Once I started college, it made sense to me to choose tutoring as a career. Tutoring for the university was a particularly notable experience because I tutored students with learning disabilities, and this helped me become more flexible in my tutoring strategies.
