I am working on my PhD in Classics from the University of Pittsburgh, while living in the Bay Area. I have received my Master's in Classics from UPitt and graduated cum laude from Pomona College with a double major in Classics and Geology. I have taught college-level Latin, semesters 1-3 as a TA and TF in Pittsburgh, as well as courses in classical mythology and Roman civilization.

Building your vocabulary cannot be crammed into a couple of tutorials but there are techniques for building and expanding your vocabulary rapidly. English borrows as much as 60% of its vocabulary from Latin.

I also prepare my students with an emphasis on writing, reading comprehension, and critical analysis skill-building. In addition, analysis and understanding of modern British Poetry is a subject upon which I place a great deal of emphasis and importance.

While working together, I usually learn much more about the student's aptitudes, including level of knowledge and ability to learn. I take mental notes about how to improve subsequent sessions, often by finding helpful resources.

...I have been playing Chess for over 15 years, and play at a very high level. As a Medieval Studies graduate from UC Davis, I was able to delve into several topics that together make up 'Social Studies'. To begin with, my minor was through the History department, as were a majority of the classes I took for Medieval studies.
