...I try to avoid scientific and mathematical jargon and do make sure that the student understands the meaning of everything that is being said. For instance, I do not casually say the word "polynomial" assuming that everybody knows what that word means. Instead, I explain it in a direct, short and down-to-Earth manner so that next time you hear it you know you are in control.
